Actor Gauatami calls for awareness about the disease
Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao and actor Gautami inaugurated a medical conference — ‘Best of astro-2017’– organised by Queen’s NRI Hospital here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that apart from hereditary factors, changes in lifestyle and food habits were contributing to the growing number of cancer cases. He called upon doctors and NGOs to create awareness among the public on the disease.
Ms. Gautami said the youngsters were active on social media and were extending support to social causes. She announced that the Life Again Foundation would start its ‘Youth Wing’ soon to tap the potential of youth in creating awareness on the disease.
Chairperson of the hospital and chief patron Chalasani Vijay Lakshmi, Gaddipati Hima Bindu, organising chairman Vijay Anand Reddy and organising secretary B. Ravi Shankar were present.
After the inauguration, Dr. Reddy briefed about the new treatment methods, which have evolved in the treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Shaleen Kumar from SGPI, Lucknow, gave a lecture on intestinal cancer. Dr. Chilukuri Srinivas spoke about brain tumours, Dr. Vinod Menon Mullasari explained urinary tract cancer and Prof. Umesh Mohan Setty from Mumbai spoke on cervix cancer.
