Vijaywada: In a heart-breaking video that has gone viral on social media, a 13-year-old girl is seen pleading with her father for help. Suffering from bone marrow cancer, the girl is asking her father to spend money on her treatment as her “hands and feet hurt”, and “she wants to go to school”.
“‘Daddy. You say that you don’t have money. At least we have this house. Please sell this house and pay for my treatment daddy. Or else, they (doctors) say that I won’t survive for long. Please do something and save me,” Sai Sri says in the video.
The video has gained traction after the girl succumbed to cancer on Sunday, May 14. Massive outrage has forced the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in Andhra Pradesh to up the case following her death and has asked the state police to probe the incident.
This comes after an NGO moved the State Human Rights Commission alleging that girl’s father did not spend money for his daughter’s treatment even though he could afford it.
The petitioner, Atchuta Rao, spoke to TIMES NOW and said that the girl could have survived if she had been given treatment for bone marrow, instead of the conservative treatment she was being given. He added that for this treatment, the mother of the girl had already spent Rs 30 lakh.
